Privacy Policy
The short version. What you share with Sen is sensitive mental-health information. We use it only so Sen can talk with you and keep you safe, encrypt it at rest, never sell it, never use it for advertising, and you can delete it at any time. Your voice is turned into text on your phone; we never receive or store audio.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Ly Minh Mai Company Limited (“we”, “us”) controls and processes your personal data when you use the Sen app. Contact: hello@lyminhmai.com.
2. What we collect
- Account: the identifier Apple or Google gives us (stored only as a one-way hash), display name, email if Apple/Google shares it (possibly an Apple private relay address), country, language, and when you confirmed your age and accepted the terms. For Apple, we keep an encrypted token so we can revoke the link when you delete your account.
- Conversations: the messages you send and Sen’s replies.
- What Sen remembers: short details taken from what you said, with the exact words they came from, so Sen keeps context next time.
- Mood journal: your daily mood, notes and the activities you pick.
- Safety signals: the result of automatic risk classification of messages (for example, whether there are signs of crisis), used to show suitable helplines.
- Sen Plus: if you subscribe, your plan status and expiry date. We never receive or store card details; Apple handles payment.
- Technical data: IP address and time in access logs for security, and usage (number of messages, tokens) to cap costs.
We do not collect: voice audio, contacts, precise location or advertising IDs. The app contains no third-party advertising or tracking tools. Settings such as theme, voice and saved quotes stay on your phone.
3. Sensitive data and your consent
Your conversations, memories, mood journal and safety signals may reveal your mental health, which the law treats as sensitive personal data. When you sign up you give explicit consent for us to process it for the purposes below. You can withdraw consent by deleting your account; this does not affect processing already done.
4. How we use your data
- To generate Sen’s replies, using your recent messages, what Sen remembers and, if “Share moods with Sen” is on, your mood levels for the last 7 days. Sen does not see your mood notes.
- To detect signs of danger so we can show helplines and adjust how Sen responds. This is fully automatic; nobody is alerted and we do not contact anyone on your behalf.
- To run, secure, prevent abuse of, cap the cost of and fix the service.
- To meet legal obligations.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, profile you for marketing, or use your conversations to train AI models.
5. Who can read your conversations
Our staff do not read your conversations in normal operation. Access happens only if you ask us for help with something specific, to investigate a serious security incident or abuse, or where the law requires it; every access is logged.
6. Service providers
- Google (Gemini API), United States: receives what is needed (your message, recent context, relevant memories) to generate replies, classify safety, extract memories and build search indexes. We use the paid service, under which Google does not use this data to train its models.
- Anthropic, United States: a backup AI provider, used only if we switch over from Google, with the same scope of data.
- RevenueCat, United States: manages Sen Plus subscriptions; receives your Sen account ID (no name or email) and your App Store purchase history.
- Fly.io: servers and database, located in Singapore.
- Cloudflare: network delivery and attack protection; data passes through encrypted in transit.
- Apple / Google: sign-in. Speech recognition runs on your phone where possible; if your phone cannot, the operating system may send audio to Apple’s or Google’s service under their policies, never through our servers.
These providers may process data only on our instructions to provide the service. We may disclose data where lawfully required by a competent authority.
7. International transfers
Your data is stored in Singapore and sent to the United States for AI processing. We protect it with encryption and our providers’ contractual commitments, and complete the cross-border transfer formalities required by Vietnamese law.
8. Retention and deletion
- We keep your data until you delete it. Deleting a conversation also deletes the memories it produced (except memories you edited yourself). You can delete individual memories and mood days.
- Deleting your account (You → Manage account → Delete account) immediately removes your account, conversations, memories and mood journal from our live systems, revokes the Apple sign-in link and deletes your record at RevenueCat. It does not cancel a Sen Plus subscription: cancel that in your App Store account settings.
- Backups are overwritten on a rolling basis; deleted data is gone from every backup within 30 days. Security logs that contain no conversation content may be kept longer, as needed for security or required by law.
9. Security
Message content, memories, notes, email and name are encrypted field by field at rest (AES-256-GCM); connections use HTTPS; sign-in identifiers are stored only as hashes; data access is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if an incident affects your data, we will notify you as the law requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to be informed, access, correct, delete, restrict processing, withdraw consent, object, and receive a copy of your data. Many of these you can do yourself in the app (view, edit and delete memories; delete conversations; turn off mood sharing; delete your account). For anything else, such as a copy of your data, email us and we will respond within the time the law requires. You may also complain to your data protection authority (in Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security; in Australia, the OAIC; in Canada, the OPC; in New Zealand, the Privacy Commissioner).
11. Children
Sen is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18; if we find we have, we will delete the account and its data.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. For material changes we will tell you in the app before they take effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires.
